Welcome to Smetana's Litomysl Opera Festival

Established in 1949, the Smetana's Litomysl International Opera Festival is the second oldest classical music festival in the Czech Republic, right after the famous "Prague Spring" music festival. At all events, the Smetana's Litomysl Opera Festival is the largest open-air classical music festival in the Czech Republic.
The jubilee 50th Smetana's Litomysl will be held from 18 June to 5 July 2008.
The grand opening of the jubilee festival will present Smetana's "Libuse" performed by the National Theatre in Prague starring Eva Urbanova. The entire Smetana's Litomysl festival program 2008 will carry on in a festive spirit presenting more than 20 programs, mainly grand concerts. A dramaturgy will be focused festively, dedicated to the work of Bedrich Smetana and operatic art entirely.
The centre of the Smetana's Litomysl Opera Festival activities is Litomysl Castle, a national cultural landmark that was registered on UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999. More info on the Smetana's Litomysl Opera Festival to be found here.
Smetana's Litomysl tickets are usually sold out 3 months prior the event. Your early booking is highly recommended!
